Examples of change I have helped to deliver include:
Campaigned for major tax change
While at the Charities Aid Foundation I took the lead role in campaigning for improved tax relief for charities which culminated in the Chancellor of the Exchequer introducing a series of radical reforms to improve the tax environment for charities.
Launched Capacitybuilders' Improving Reach Programme
Aimed at isolated rural groups, black and minority ethnic organisations, refugee bodies and faith communities, the Improving Reach programme enables these groups to improve access to capacity building and support. I also introduced a flexible Learning and Innovation grant programme which directed funds towards supporting new developments in the third sector, in particular funding joint partnership work between voluntary organisations and public agencies and encouraging the transfer of community assets.
Established the Finance and Funding Hub of the ChangeUp Programme
I chaired the initial Partnership Board of the Finance and Funding Hub which delivered information, advice and training opportunities to support organisations throughout England.
Launched the Giving Campaign and new Giving Forum
With others I established a short term Giving Campaign, with financial support from government, to help drive up charitable giving in the UK. I also launched and supported a new Giving Forum consisting of senior representatives from the voluntary sector, government and private business to enable these sectors to work together to increase charitable giving.
